Pokhreli-jhyal cultural exchange in UK

8TH POKHARELI JHYAL

Pokhareli Jhyal (hereafter “PJ”) was inaugurated on 2002. Its main aim was to preserve Nepalese culture and sports for the Nepalese community in Hong Kong. It has been a major platform for aspiring Nepalese to showcase their talents to the Nepalese community in HK.

In past events, Pokhareli Jhyal has organised many community events such as football competitions and cultural programmes. These events have garnered much support and attention amongst the Nepalese community in not just Hong Kong but also abroad.

In acknowledgement of this, for the first time in PJ’s history, we plan to launch an exchange cultural programme with the Nepalese community in the UK. It is our intention to further promote and globalize PJ wherever the Nepalese Diaspora may be.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE IN THE UK

This year a group of talented Nepalese artists from Hong Kong will be performing in the UK for a cultural exchange programme in conjunction with its UK-based Nepalese performers.

This cultural exchange programme will showcase the finest of UK and Hong Kong-based Nepalese artists performing typical and cultural Nepalese song and dance. It will also allow our HK-based artists to experience the unique British culture with our UK-based hosts.

The above exchange programme will be co-ordinated by POKHARA Manch, UK. The brief plan is as follows:
